In these pages you will find information on the village, where to stay, what's on, a Virtual Tour of the village with over 100 photos and much, much more!

The village of Kyleakin is located across from Kyle of Lochalsh. The narrow strait between the two is the shortest distance from the island to the mainland of Scotland. There was a ferry service operating there, that was in existence as early as 1841. The new bridge to the Isle of Skye was opened in October 1985. The ferries were retired the same day the bridge opened, leaving the people of Skye with a privately-run extortionately priced Skye Bridge. However after a lot of campaigning, the Bridge is now FREE!

We get many visitors to Kyleakin who come here for the mountain climbing, scenery and gentle way of life. We also seem to have a LOT of Australians who come here for New Year for some strange reason :-) Whenever you want to visit Kyleakin, you will be given a warm, Scottish welcome, by the people at least if not by the weather!. Our summer season may be short of sunshine and our Winter long, wet, windy and even wetter! But whatever the weather, you will always find something to do during your stay here. So, Failte D'On Caol Acain!
