Correspondence

  1. A letter was received from the Scottish National Heritage detailing plans to make the majority of the upland area around Kyleakin and Kylerhea an area of Special Scientific Interest.
  2. A letter was received from the Highland Council concerning the renewal of bus service contracts for the period 01/01/02 until 31/12/05. It is proposed that during Co-op opening hours all buses will divert to the Kyle Co-op and we were asked our opinion whether it would be useful for the bus to do a circuit round Kyle village. We would write back advising the Council that both these ideas met with our approval.
  3. We have received copies of correspondence between the Bright Water Visitor Centre and the North West Partnership with regard to the positioning of a traffic sign on the roundabout at the end of the Skye Bridge indicating the direction to the Centre. We were disappointed that the request for the sign had been rejected and would be writing to the North West Partnership pointing out the economic value of the Visitor Centre to the village.
  4. We have received a copy ofa letter from Kyleakin Football Club to Mr J. MacDonald concerning the relocation of the football pitch at Kyleakin.

A.O.C.B.

  1. It was noted that the lights on the War Memorial had been vandalised, Billy Reid is to speak with the head teacher and the police on this matter.
  2. People have been seen climbing up the Castle Moil, the matter has been reported to the Heritage Committee of the Highland Council who are involving the Health & Safety Executive.
  3. John MacRae has informed the Council that he will expedite the erecting of signs to the pontoon and will ensure that a clean up of the harbour area takes place at the next low tide.
