1. Matters Arising From Previous Meetings

1.1

Chris Marsh said the environmental impact assessment was now complete and he would pass a copy to the Community Council in the next few days. There had not been much progress on footpaths but now that the environmental assessment was out of the way he would be able to concentrate on them.

1.2

The Secretary had written to John Macdonald asking for details of his meeting with Mrs Phipps to discuss the ownership of Shorefields but had received no reply. He was asked to write again.

1.3

Bill Ross has written advising us of the charges to be made for boats over wintering on the Quay area in Kyleakin. The charge is £2.00 per metre length per month with a minimum charge of £10.00 per craft per month. For boats wider than 2.5 metres the charge is doubled i.e. £4.00 per metre length per month with a minimum charge of £20.00 per craft per month. It is proposed that the parking will be managed by the Community Council who will collect charges. The income will be split 50/50 between the Community Council and the Highland Council. The meeting discussed this and agreed we would put up a notice at the Quay next May/June, advising of the charges, in time for next winter.

2. Correspondence

    2.1

The Annual meeting for Community Councils in Skye and Lochalsh will take place on the 10th December at 7.00 p.m. in the Dunollie Hotel, Broadford. It was agreed that Mr Taylor would represent the Council at that meeting.

3. A.O.C.B.

3.1

Mr Thomson informed the meeting that Miller Dywidag would be giving the village a Xmas tree again this year.

3.2

We agreed to donate £250 to the SWRI to help offset the cost of the Old People’s Xmas Dinner.

3.3

Mr Thomson showed the meeting some photographs he had taken as part of this year’s annual shoreline survey.

3.3

In view of the problems with the War Memorial this year the Secretary was asked to write to John Macdonald suggesting that the Highland Council implement a policy of inspecting/cleaning all War Memorials on an annual basis.

Next Meeting: Monday 19th January 2004 at 19.30.
