 Kyleakin and Kylerhea Community Council

Minutes of Meeting in Kyleakin day Centre

On Monday 11th February 2002

Present: Billy Reid, Mike Taylor, John Robertson, Councillor Bill Fulton, Sgt. Dennis Hyndman (part time).

Apologies: Ian Sikorski

Sgt. Dennis Hyndman, who is stationed at Broadford Police Station, informed the Council of various incidents that, had occurred in and around Kyleakin. He said that there was now a full time night shift, which should cut down on vehicular crime. We had a discussion on vandalism and Sgt. Hyndman stressed that it was important  that anyone who witnessed vandalism, however minor, should phone the police and there was no need to give their name.

Minutes of meeting on 10th December 2001: Proposed by Billy Reid, seconded by John Robertson, carried.

A letter of thanks has been received from Kyleakin WRI for the donation towards the old people's fund.

2.3

A letter has been received from Skye & Lochalsh Association for Disability informing us of the progress of the Wildlife Garden on the shore at Kyleakin. They have requested that all garden refuse be dumped to the east of the wildlife garden site leaving clear the area between the two white posts. They would be grateful if anyone has any old garden tools that they could donate to them. They have also asked if everyone in the village could keep an eye out for vandalism to the garden, already two trees growing on the site have been cut down.

3.             A.O.C.B.

3.1

Mr Taylor reported that the dry stone wall around the Obbe was damaged in one or two places. It was felt that this was probably vandalism as it was unlikely that the  small tidal movement in the Obbe would be sufficient to dislodge the stones. The Council would have the wall repaired.

Next Meeting: Monday 11th March 2002 at 19.30.
