1. Matters Arising From Meeting of 12th December 2006

1.1 Bill Fulton said he had no further information on the plans for the roundabout at the top of the village or a new village sign.
1.2

The Secretary wrote to John Macdonald asking if lighting could be provided in the gravel area by the Quay. He replied saying he has passed our request to Marshal Gillespie.

1.3

We have received a letter from the S & L Drug & Alcohol Forum who would like to hold a substance misuse seminar in the village, with the Community Council arranging a suitable date and venue. It was agreed we would hold a seminar in the Village Hall. Ongoing.

1.4

We have received a reply from our letter to the police regarding youths using Old Kyle Farm Road as a race track. Sergeant Galloway said he had briefed his officers regarding the problem.

1.5

The Secretary wrote to John Macdonald requesting assistance in collecting fees from boat owners storing their boats on the Quay area and also requested that a sign displaying the fees be erected in the area. We have received no reply. It was agreed that the Community Council would put up a sign.

1.6

The Secretary wrote to Tony Usher about providing a water supply to the pontoons, he replied that a prepaid order had been placed with Scottish Water to carry out the work.

1.7

The Secretary wrote to the Fire Officer in Portree and asked for the wooden fire shed at the back of the Old School, which has blown over, to be moved. He has not replied.

1.8

The Secretary wrote to Tullochs to ask them to top dress the pipe work down the pier and received no reply, he therefore contacted Scottish Water and received an email from Sue Nield which was rather ambiguous.

1.9 The Secretary wrote to the Highland Council about rectifying the pavements down the pier, they have not replied.
1.10 The Secretary wrote to Scottish Water asking for the collection tank on the South Obbe to be emptied on a regular basis. They emailed back saying they are looking into the matter.

Post Meeting note: Since the meeting we have received the following from Scottish Water- “It appears that there is a manhole with a high level emergency overflow that had originally been plugged up, the plug had come loose hence the reason sewage has been overflowing onto the shore. It is Scottish Water’s intention to arrange a work order to construct a permanent concrete seal on the overflow which will ultimately put an end to the problem. It is anticipated that this work ‘will be undertaken in the early spring (end of March). In the meantime our local team leader will ensure that a schedule of routine inspections is set up.”
