Previous Minutes: |
Proposed by Mr Glenwright seconded by Mrs Taylor and carried. |
1. Matters Arising From Previous Meeting
1.1 Scottish TranServ agreed to discuss with the Highland Council having a “Welcome to Skye” sign at the end of the Skye Bridge. But despite reminder letters from the Secretary to both of them there appears to be little prospect of it happening.
1.2 Mark Crow has informed Mr Sikorski that the pavement down by the pier would be repaired within the next two weeks.
1.3 The new lights for the Castle Moil have been fitted but several (5?) are not working.
1.4 The Highland Council will meet the cost of supplying and delivering a double-sided Information Board (cost around £2500), and the Community Council will meet the cost of installing it. The Highland Council will also meet the cost of an information panel to go in the Board. Ongoing.
1.5 We have received £5475 from ‘Awards for All’ and the Highland Council have given us £1000. Work has started on putting a sloping roof on the flat area of the roof of the Old School.
1.6 The Secretary wrote to Alan Duffield, Secretary of the Broadford Environmental Group, with regard to converting the old Broadford-Kyleakin road into a cycle path. They carried out a study on this proposal in 2000 but it progressed no further due to lack of funds. They would be happy to work with us, and Broadford Community Council, to resurrect the project.
1.7 BT told the Secretary that they would bury the exposed cables on the foreshore, where they come across from the mainland.
Post meeting note: BT contacted the Secretary on July 10th and said that there was insufficient length of cable to be able to bury it.
1.8 The Secretary wrote to SNH regarding motorbikes down the Obbe. They replied saying they shared our concern but there was little that SHN could do directly and suggested we contacted Sir Iain’s new factor Chris Mackenzie.
1.9 The Secretary attended the first meeting of the new Ward Forum as already stated it is not a decision making body but it is useful to be able to meet with all four elected Councillors plus Council officials along with representatives from other Community Councils. The next meeting is on August 8th.
1.10 The Secretary was asked to write to TranServ about the state of the roundabout at the top of the village.
1.11 The Secretary put a notice up advertising the position off ‘Village Officer’ and we only had one applicant, Alasdair Munro.
2. Correspondence
| 2.1 |
We have received a letter from the Skye and Lochalsh Local Access Forum inviting us to nominate a representative to serve on their committee, Mrs Mellor agreed to represent us. |
| 2.2 |
We received a letter from the Highland Council informing us that our annual grant this year is £981.24. |
3. A.O.C.B.
3.1 We agreed to give a donation of £200 to Kyleakin Gala.
3.2 We have received complaints about the noise caused by youths driving through the village in cars with modified exhausts, the Secretary was asked to contact the police and see if they could help.
Next Meeting: Monday 10th September 2007 at 19.30.
