1. Matters Arising From Meeting of 11th September 2006
1.1 The Secretary was asked to write to Harold Yates regarding a “Welcome to Skye” sign incorporated in the roundabout at the top of the village. He replied saying he had contacted both the Scottish Executive and BEAR 10 months ago on the subject but to no avail. He would contact TranServ to see if they are more amenable.
1.2 George Speed contacted the Secretary and said that permanently rectifying the potholes on the bend on South Obbe and the pavements down by the pier would not now take place until next Spring.
1.3 The Secretary had written again to the Lighting engineer asking for lighting to be installed around the outside perimeter of the gravel area, but had received no reply. He has ordered new lights for the Castle Moil.
1.4 The “no overnight parking” and “The parking of boats and trailers is chargeable” notices for the gravel area are now waiting for TEC Services to erect them.
1.5 It was suggested that we have an information board in the car park. Mr Fulton suggested we liaise with Geoff Robson or Dorothy Maxwell in the Highland Council Planning Department at Inverness. Mr Glenwright agreed to co-ordinate this, ongoing.
1.6 The Secretary wrote to TranServ and informed them that water accumulates in the dip in the path at the start of the Skye Bridge, they replied saying that the matter is currently being investigated by their engineers.
1.7 We have heard no more on the Fish Farm debris on the shore at the top of Loch na Beiste; however we have received a copy of a letter from Sir Iain Noble to Murdo MacRae saying in view on the controversy he was going to charge him £7.50 per day until it had been removed.
1.8 Bill Fulton has spoken with Tony Usher about the “Vanguard” and confirmed that no progress has been made on having it removed. It was suggested the Secretary write to the Royal Navy at BUTEC as the vessel has done work for them in the past.
1.9 The Secretary wrote to David MacLeod to ask him for a quotation to fibre glass the flat roof of the Old School, which was still leaking despite several attempts to repair it. He replied saying it was to big a job for fibreglassing and suggested we have a sloping roof put on. The Secretary was asked to obtain quotations from Calum MacAskill and Roddy Morrison and then write to John MacDonald to see if a grant is available from the Highland Council.
