1. Matters Arising From Meeting of 8th July 2002
1.1 The wall along the Obbe has been repaired at a cost of £1200.
1.2 Bill Fulton said it was unlikely that the Highland Council owned any part of Shorefields but the situation would not be finalised until early next year. The Council expressed concern that the area would be become overgrown again next year and it was agreed that we would write again to Mrs Phipps on the subject next February.
1.3 Bill Ross had replied to our letter of complaint asking which areas of grass cutting were giving cause for concern. After a discussion with the Chairman, the Secretary replied stating that the main areas were the verges especially the stretch alongside Kyle House, the shore side of the road, the Football field and the Village Green.
1.4 Five or six villagers and two Rangers from The National Trust for Scotland carried out a tidy up of the Obbe. It was agreed that we would carry out another tidy up in the spring when hopefully pupils from Kyleakin Primary School would be involved.
1.5 The Council had received a letter from Highland NHS thanking us for our response to the document detailing the proposed changes to Skye Hospital services and enclosing a copy of the paper submitted to the board on 6th August.
2. Correspondence
2.1 |
We have received a letter from Bill Fulton expressing concern at boats being tied to the new railings on the north side of the harbour. John Macrae had advised him that the new rings were on order and they would than be fitted. The Secretary was asked to write to Mr Macrae asking how he proposes to ensure that boats are tied to the rings and not the rails. |
3. A.O.C.B.
3.1
It was mentioned that the entrance to the path, past the harbour, to the Castle Moil was overgrown and also more gravel was required on the path leading to the War Memorial. The Secretary was asked to write to Bill Ross requesting him to arrange for these tasks to be carried out.
3.2 The Council has received a letter from David Gill asking if the Community Council could identify any land owned by the Community Council that could possibly be used to construct a new Fire Station. After a discussion it was agreed that none of the land owned by the Community Council was suitable for this purpose and the Secretary was asked to reply suggesting he contact Kyleakin Feus.
Next Meeting: Monday 4th November 2002 at 19.30.
